Aura ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Aura mobile application.

By using Aura, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Screenshots and images you voluntarily upload for analysis (e.g., dating app conversations or profiles)
Text content you paste or type into the app for analysis
Preferences and settings you configure during onboarding (vibe tags, dating intentions, situation, age range)
Account information if you sign in with Apple (name, email address)
Usage data including app interactions and feature usage patterns

How We Use Your Information

To provide AI-powered reply suggestions, opener generation, and profile analysis
To personalize responses based on your vibe preferences, dating situation, and intentions
To save your history of reads and replies within the app
To process subscriptions and manage your account
To improve the app's features and performance
To communicate with you about your account or support requests

AI-Powered Features & Third-Party Data Processing

Aura's core features are powered by artificial intelligence. Before any data is sent for AI processing, you are required to provide explicit consent within the app. Here is exactly how your data is handled:

AI Data Disclosure

AI Provider: Anthropic (Claude AI). Your data is sent to Anthropic's API via our secure Supabase servers for processing.

What we send: Text messages, screenshots, and profile images you provide for analysis, along with your vibe preferences, dating situation, and age range to personalize the response.

Purpose: To generate personalized reply suggestions, opening messages, and dating profile audits tailored to your preferences.

Data retention: Your data is processed in real time by Anthropic to generate the AI response. Anthropic does not permanently store your submitted content and does not use it to train AI models.

Data sharing: We never sell your data to advertisers or any other third parties. Data sent to Anthropic is used solely to power your requested analysis.

Your consent: The app requires your explicit consent before any data is transmitted for AI processing. You are shown a disclosure screen explaining this data flow before your first AI request.

All data transmitted between the Aura app and our servers, and between our servers and Anthropic's API, is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols.

Data Storage

Your preferences, vibe settings, and read history are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not maintain a central database of your personal conversations or the content of messages you upload for analysis.

Authentication data (Apple Sign-In) is managed securely through Supabase. We store only the minimum account information needed to manage your subscription and account.

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.

Authentication

If you choose to sign in using Sign in with Apple, we receive basic profile information (name and email) from Apple. We use this only to create and manage your account via our Supabase authentication system. We do not share this information with third parties.

Subscriptions & Payments

Aura offers subscription plans managed entirely through Apple's In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). We do not collect, process, or store any payment or financial information directly. All billing, renewals, and cancellations are handled by Apple. You can manage your subscription in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Data Retention

Screenshots and message content you submit for analysis are processed in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers or by Anthropic beyond what is necessary to deliver the AI response. Your local app data (history, preferences) remains on your device until you delete the app or clear app data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request deletion of your account and all associated data (available in-app via My Aura → Delete Account, or by emailing us)
Opt out of any future communications from us
Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Withdraw your AI data processing consent at any time by deleting your account

Children's Privacy

Aura is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Security

All data transmitted between the Aura app and our servers, as well as to the Anthropic API, is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. Our API key is stored securely on the server side and is never exposed in the app. We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, though no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
